In order to address discrimination, we must understand and address its fundamental basis of systemic oppression. Stratification economics goes beyond myopic mainstream conceptualisations of discrimination and recognises the historical, institutional, and structural factors that create and maintain socioeconomic disparities and hierarchies. To critically approach the economics of discrimination, this workshop will focus on stratification economics, a systematic and empirically grounded approach to addressing intergroup inequality (Darity, 2005). Focusing on racial discrimination, we will discuss the core elements of stratification economics, critically evaluate its relevance, and apply these understandings to construct case studies and solutions for change. In our discussions, we will consider an array of topics, including intersecting oppressions, reparative justice, and the role of knowledge production in overcoming injustice and creating a better world.

Jäger bezeichnet diese als integrative Analyse von Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Politik, für die die Untersuchung von Klassenkonflikten zentral ist. Der Vortrag erläutert Begriffe wie Produktivkräfte, Produktionsverhältnisse, Akkumulation, Arbeit und Kapital. Jäger erläutert neben der Methodologie, Dialektik, auch die politische Zielsetzungen und den emanzipatorischen Anspruch der Theorieschule. Ein aktueller Bezug wird über einen Abschnitt zur Analyse der Eurokrise hergestellt. Zudem werden Differenzen zur Neoklassik regelmäßig aufgegriffen.
Marx'sche Ökonomie
Nach einem kurzen wissenschaftstheoretischem Einstieg zur prä-analystischen Vision der Ökologischen Ökonomik, präsentiert Bernd Siebenhüner die Kernideen der Theorieschule. Dabei grenzt er diese von der Umwelt- & Ressourcenökonomik ab und erläutert auch Unterschiede zur Neoklassik. Während dieser Einführung in die Ökologische Ökonomik erläutert Siebenhüner Begriffe wie planetare Grenzen, Nachhaltigkeit oder Thermodynamik. Dabei gebt er insbesondere auf die Leitvision „Komplementarität statt Substituierbarkeit“ ein und stellt diese den in Kontext von schwacher und starker Nachhaltigkeit. Im Anschluss präsentiert Siebenhüner die Debatten um Wachstum und Ökosystemleistungen in der Ökologischen Ökonomik.

Ausgehend von Keynes Werk "Allgemeine Theorie der Beschäftigung, des Zinses und des Gelds" erläutert Dirk Ehnts die Grundzüge der Keynesianischen Wirtschaftstheorie und insbesondere die Unterschiede zu neoklassischen Annahmen und Modellen. Anschließend geht er auf den Post-Keynesianismus ein: Welcher Konsens und Dissens besteht unter Post-Keynesianern und welche sind die Sternstunden der Theorieschule? Kernthemen des Vortrags sind Geldkreislauf, Staatsverschuldung und Kredite.
Post-Keynesianismus (Eine sehr kurze Einführung)
Zunächst erläutert Manuel Wäckerle die Grundzüge der der Evolutionsökonomik und präsentiert eine kurze Ideengeschichte der Theorieschule, wobei er insbesondere auf Ansätze von Marx, Schumpeter und Veblen Bezug nimmt. Wäckerle hebt die Rolle von Institutionen in der Evolutionsökonomik hervor, erläutert unterschiedliche Verständnisse von Institutionen und geht dabei auf Gouvernementalität, soziales Lernen, Wissen und Macht ein. Darauf folgt eine wissenschaftstheoretische Annäherung, insbesondere an die Ontologie der Evolutionsökonomik und deren Hauptobjekt der Analyse.

Es ist immer noch zweifelhaft, ob Ökonom*innen mit ihrem Instrumentarium die nächste Wirtschaftskrise vorhersagen können.
Als erster Grund ist dafür der nicht-systemische Status von Krisen in Mainstream-Theorien zu nennen. Zweifelsohne entwickeln empirisch arbeitende Makroökonomen Warn-Indikatoren für Finanzkrisen (Schularick und Taylor 2012), es gibt auch makroökonomsiche Modelle, die Krisendynamiken aufgreifen (Kumhof et al. 2015) und Debatten im Mainstream der VWL über den richtigen Umgang mit der Mathematik (Romer ABC).
