This is a recording of an introductory course held at the 4th International Degrowth Conference for Ecological Sustainability and Social Equity in Leipzig in 2014. Federico Demaria from the French-Spanish organisation Research and Degrowth gives an introduction to degrowth. The presentation is based on the introduction to the book “Degrowth. A vocabulary for a new era.” and discusses definitions of degrowth, degrowth literature, debates, history and further research to be done.

Markets are the focus in modern economics: when they work, when they don’t and what we can or can’t do about it. There are many ways to study markets and how we do so will inevitably affect our conclusions about them, including policy recommendations which can influence governments and other major organisations. Pluralism can be a vital corrective to enacting real policies based on only one perspective and a plethora of approaches provide alternatives to the canonical view. Although they have differing implications, these approaches share the idea that we should take a historical approach, analysing markets on a case-by-case basis; and they share a faith in the power of both individuals and collectives to overcome the problems encountered when organising economic activity.

Internationale Politische Ökonomie
Oft werden Universitäten mit neutraler Wissenschaft verbunden und das von Dozierenden vermittelte Wissen als Abbildung der Realität wahrgenommen. Nur selten ist es Gegenstand kritischer Auseinandersetzungen. Wissenschaft findet jedoch in keinem neutralen Raum statt, sondern ist von Machtstrukturen und somit auch oft von diskriminierenden Denkweisen geprägt. Genau hier setzt unser Projekt an, mit dem wir einen Beitrag zur kritischen, interdisziplinären Auseinandersetzung mit Rassifizierung und Diskriminierung an der Universität Bayreuth und darüber hinaus leisten wollen. Unser Interesse am Thema Rassifizierung im Kontext universitärer Lehre und Forschung entstammt dabei der kritischen Auseinandersetzung mit den Lehrinhalten der Vorlesung „Ökonomik der Entwicklungsländer“ von Prof. Dr. Martin Leschke sowie mit dem begleitenden Lehrbuch „Ökonomik der Entwicklung – Eine Einführung aus institutionenökonomischer Sicht“. Als uns Themen und Begriffe auffielen, die unserer Einschätzung nach in ihrer Verwendung nicht dem aktuellen Umgang mit postkolonialen Machtverhältnissen und Eurozentrismus entsprachen, kam uns die Idee, eine kritische Begleitschrift zu besagtem Lehrbuch zu verfassen.

Ein reines Monopol (Mono - griech. monos = „allein“, „einzig“; Pol - polein = „verkaufen“) liegt immer dann vor, wenn viele Nachfrager (z.B. private Haushalte) genau nur einen einzigen Anbieter (z.B. Unternehmen) eines bestimmten Gutes bzw. einer bestimmten Leistung zur Auswahl haben, ohne Wahl auf ein Substitut (Ersetzung des Gutes bzw. der Leistung mit einer anderen).

Der Vortrag erläutert die Grundkonzepte, die Methodik und die Forschungsinteressen der Kritischen Politischen Ökonomik. Jäger bezeichnet diese als integrative Analyse von Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Politik, für die die Untersuchung von Klassenkonflikten zentral ist. Der Vortrag erläutert Begriffe wie Produktivkräfte, Produktionsverhältnisse, Akkumulation, Arbeit und Kapital. Jäger erläutert neben der Methodologie, Dialektik, auch die politische Zielsetzungen und den emanzipatorischen Anspruch der Theorieschule. Ein aktueller Bezug wird über einen Abschnitt zur Analyse der Eurokrise hergestellt. Zudem werden Differenzen zur Neoklassik regelmäßig aufgegriffen.

Das Panel setzt sich aus Wissenschaftlern, einem Industrievertreter und einer Unternehmensgründerin zusammen. Die letzten 20 Minuten widmen sich der Diskussion.

The sum of squares and degree of freedom calculation from the previous videos are put into a ratio to calculate the F Value, on whose basis the null hypothesis is confirmed or rejected. If variance is higher between samples than within the null hypothesis is more likely to be rejected. The results of a numerical example are interpreted more abstractly and then tested with regards to a confidence interval and the corresponding F table.
